What is Homebirth Victoria doing?
We are comitted to improving access to homebirth, through education, sharing information, creating community, dispelling myths, and promoting use of homebirth services.

Issues around unregulated birth workers
We have been actively communicating with Safer Care Victoria (having initially reached out to the CNMO in Dec 2026) to clarify current concerns in 2025/2026 around recent claims that Victoria will regulated doulas.
We continue to provide feedback. You can see our joint statement here.

Improving community awareness
It is our ongoing goal to meet with more MPs and educate them on issues around homebirth. In 2026 this is a major goal.

Working with PFHB Programs
We continue to attempt collaboration with PFHB programs to ensure adequate consumer input from homebirthing families.
If you can support with this, please contact us.

Professional Indemnity Insurance Issue (2024 - current)
We are actively working with other consumer groups to address the serious concerns with the governments announcement regarding funding PII for Homebirth Midwives attending 'low risk' homebirths.
